Geilo Mountain Lodge is quiet but centrally located on walking distance to slopes and town center
Regardless of whether you are a British lord or simply desire to feel like one, Geilo Mountain Lodge is the ideal hotel for you. Not only the house and interior, but also the host himself contributes to the unique atmosphere.
The Geilo Mountain Lodge warmly welcomes you upon arrival. It feels like you’re returning home after a long trip. The host, Jan Soløy, meets you at the door and helps you to carry your luggage. Inside, a fireplace greets you in the small lobby that also serves as a reception. It won’t take long before you are seated and served, just like at home.



If you feel the need to treat yourself, this is where you should go.
With only eight double rooms, this house is far from crowded. The actual hotel room is small, but the living areas are spacious. Checking in here is not about the hotel room. It’s all about the atmosphere and the tasteful interior.

Everything is in its perfect place without being stilted.
Even the house dog fits in.
The hotel dinner is a four-course meal open for additional guests. It’s far from ordinary. Local ingredients that are prepared with love. So if you miss out on checking in for the night, do yourself a favor and at least reserve a table. The dining area is quiet but still relaxed. Showing up for dinner in your underwear or training pants won’t do. The atmosphere requires that you dress up a bit. But so will your inner lord as well.

This mountain lodge does not have a pool or spa, but don’t worry. You won’t miss it, and if you do, there are plenty of hotels nearby that will greet you into theirs as an external guest if you feel the need. With that said, Geilo is worth a visit, skiing-wise. Geilo Mountain Lodge is worth a visit, skiing or not. If there is a hotel worth your spending, this is it. But don’t bring your kids.
